On Wednesday, 24th April, 11am UTC+1/Irish Time, during the Global Action Week for Education 2024 join us online for a conversation about the newly published landmark UN Recommendations to Transform the Teaching Profession with our distinguished keynote speakers and guests:

  • David Archer, Head of Programmes and Influencing at ActionAid;
  • Dorothy McGinley, ex-President of the Irish National Teachers’ Organisation (INTO);
  • Cecilia Thea Soriano, Campaigns and Communications Manager at the Global Campaign for Education (GCE).

At the heart of the 2024 Global Action Week for Education, coordinated by the Global Campaign for Education and joined by their national coalitions, stands Transformative Education. The week-long campaign calls for governments, decision-makers, and other stakeholders to deliver on the commitments made during the 2022 Transformative Education Summit.

Focusing on the people at the centre of transformative education – teachers – the UN Secretary General convened the High-Level Panel on the Teaching Profession. Its members were tasked with developing a plan of action on how the teaching profession can be supported and transformed “to play its essential role in creating a better world”.

The result of the Panel’s work are 59 milestone recommendations, which provide a powerful set of tools to tackle the global teacher shortage and support teaching personnel globally.

Our speakers will provide keynotes on the 2022 Transformative Education Summit commitments and the UN Recommendations to Transform the Teaching Profession and invite to a conversation about key findings, recommendations, and their implementation.

Join us online on Wednesday, 24th April, 11am UTC+1/Irish Time and please register here.
