To mark the 10th anniversary of International Day of the Girl we want to share Plan International’s new report, Realising every girl’s right to flourish: a review of progress on the 10th anniversary of the International Day of the Girl

‘Looking back over 10 years of efforts to advance girls’ rights this report presents a new analysis which sheds light on areas of progress over ten years – and where progress has stalled, or even regressed. The analysis reveals that that while some progress has been made, gains have been slow, fragile and unequal. Although improvements have been recorded on key gender equality indicators, such as education and child mortality, girls who are growing up in poverty or in conflict settings, living with a disability or identifying as LGBTIQ+ are less likely to benefit from these gains. As a result, countless girls around the world face the same inequalities that their mothers did years ago.

As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of International Day of the Girl, we have an opportunity to reflect and to step up our collective efforts to ensure all girls’ rights are realised‘.
